SUMMARY
The Ma'aliyah tribe originate from the Fezara group which include the Zeiyadiya, Manjin, Dar Hamid and Kawahla. The Ma'aliyah have lived in Southern Darfur as herders, and after the division of the region into five states the tribe is mainly found in East Darfur. Their main livestock is cattle but they also herd some camels. In the Native Administrative system the Ma'aliyah is junior to the Rizeigat. However, through supporting the government in its fighting against the rebellion, the Ma'aliyah has somewhat changed their tribal status.
Ma'aliyah has been involved in the non-state category of UCDP organised violence.
