SUMMARY

The Action Congress (ACN) and the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) have competed for political power since the formation of the ACN (then called AC) in 2006. In connection to this political struggle, clashes have broken out between supporters of the two parties, resulting in deaths.

The non-state conflict between the Supporters of ACN and the Supporters of PDP is first included in UCDP data in 2008. ACN and PDP supporters clashed on several occasions at different locations in the first half of 2008 due to disagreements over the true outcome of elections and which party has the rightful claim to political office. Jointly, these clashes resulted in more than 25 battle-related deaths.
