SUMMARY

The FDPC, Front démocratique du Peuple Centrafricain, or the Democratic Front for the People of Central Africa, have been active in the western parts of the Central African Republic. The group has supported itself by abducting civilians and ransoming their relatives, as well as through cattle raiding and other types of looting. These raids have often become deadly and in addition to this the FDPC has targeted trucks and their drivers on the Main Supply Road 1 (MSR1) between Cameroon and Bangui in the Nana-Mambéré province.

FDPC first became active as a one-sided actor in UCDP data in 2015, when the one-sided violence resulted in more than 25 civilian deaths. The threshold was reached sometime between January and September of that year when attacks along the Main Supply Road 1 (MSR1) had resulted in 39 civilian deaths.
