SUMMARY
During 2014 Jaish-ul-Islam, carried out a one-sided attack against Shia Muslims. The dyad is closely tied to the sectarian violence between Shiites and Sunnis in Pakistan. Shiites make up around 15-20 % of Muslims in Pakistan, and are a common target of extremists groups.
Jaish-ul-Islam first became active as a one-sided actor in UCDP data in 2012, when the one-sided violence resulted in over 25 civilian deaths. The threshold was reached in June that year when 30 people were killed in an attack on a hotel in Balochistan province.
