SUMMARY

Historically, the tension between the two largest ethnic groups in Southern Sudan Dinka and Nuer has been categorized by competition over power. However, the subgroups of Dinka Hol and Lou Nuer have remained fairly peaceful and Lou Nuer cattle keepers use to graze cattle in dry seasons in Duk County. Nevertheless, occasionally the two communities have been involved in skirmishes against each other. When tension has increased the reason usually is related to cattle.

The non-state conflict between Dinka Hol and Lou Nuer is first included in UCDP data in 2008. In May that year clashes between the two groups resulted in over 30 battle-related deaths.

No recorded fatalities for this entity.
