SUMMARY

Dinka is the name of the largest ethnic group in Southern Sudan and this group is divided into many sub-sections. One of these subsections is the Dinka Hol who is an ethnic group that lives in Duk Padiet in Jonglei state in Southern Sudan. They are both agriculturalists and are keeping cattle. During summer time the younger men and women within the Duk Padiet community moves from the dry land to more swampy areas. The Dinka Hol speaks Dinka as their main language but also speaks Nuer as the area were they are living is close to Nuer homeland. Their main livelihood is cattle herding.

The Hol Dinka has been involved in the non-state category of the UCDP organised violence.
