SUMMARY

Fighting between the Forces of Abdul Rahman Khan and the Forces of Amanullah was concentrated in one single, but bloody, event. The non-state conflict erupted on 13 August 2003 in the Kajran district of Uruzgan province, when supporters of Amanullah fired upon a busload of Abdul Rahman Khan’s supporters. Violent clashes followed, leaving at least 25 people dead.

The background to the fighting was Amanullah’s loss of the position as head of the Kajran district, a position which had been given to Abdul Rahman Khan. In a violent attempt to retain power, Amanullah’s fighters engaged Khan’s in clashes throughout the day and evening, before the Afghan national army and police officers were posted to the are and a truce was negotiated. No further clashes took place after this event.

No recorded fatalities for this entity.
