SUMMARY
The Derashe (also called Dirashe, Gidole and Gardulla) is a little known ethnic group that lives in the south-western part of Ethiopia. More specifically, their homeland lays in the eastern part of Derashe Special woreda (district), which is situated in the Southern Nations, Nationalities and Peoples region (SNNP). The group mainly bases its economy on agriculture, using hillside terraces for soil and water conservation in the mountainous part of their territory, but also cultivating the lowlands to the south and east.
The Derashe have been involved in the non-state category of UCDP organised violence.
