SUMMARY
La Fuerza Anti-Unión (FAU), or the Anti-Union Tepito, was a criminal organization in Mexico City.
The cartel emerged as a vigilante group in 2017 with the purpose of constituting a counterforce or resistance against the dominance of La Unión de Tepito. According to some, the group itself was a splinter of its avowed rival. The Anti-Unión battled La Unión de Tepito for control of drug trafficking businesses in the capital.
Furthermore, La Fuerza Anti-Unión was dedicated to activities such as drug dealing, extortion, kidnapping, and robbery. The crimes committed by the Anti-Union were often underreported, since a large part of the victims did not appear to file complaints in fear of reprisals from the criminal cell.
The FAU operated mostly in Mexico City, although it was said to have some presence in neighboring Mexico State. Since its accelerated expansion period in 2018, the cartel has been partaking in criminal activity throughout much of the Mexican capital, in particular the boroughs of Cuauhtémoc and Venustiano Carranza.
The number of members operating within the cartel has not been certain, however it was known that at least 50 members have been active at the same place at one specific time.
The group had close ties to the Jalisco Cartel New Generation (CJNG). As a result of this alliance, the CJNG had access to Mexico City, in exchange for firearm supplies and narcotics. La Fuerza Anti-Unión has also benefitted from having connections to corrupt state officials.
As for the leadership of the criminal cell, sources disagree. In 2019, authorities detained the leader Sergio “N”, alias “El Tortas” or “Commander T”. A man named Jorge Miguel Rodríguez Muñoz, alias “El Cabezas,” was arrested on charges including arms possession and drug trafficking. In 2020,'El Lucas' was confirmed by the authorities the leader of the Anti-Union Force, and was captured in October the same year. Another key player in the operations carried out by the cartel was Eusebio Hernández Vázquez, alias “El Cejas”.
La Fuerza Anti-Unión has been involved in the non-state category of UCDP organized violence.
