SUMMARY

The Majerteen (also known as Mijerteen, Mejerti and Majertein) are a Somali clan, primarily concentrated in the Puntland region in Somalia but also present in the Somali National Regional State (SNRS), which is one of the nine federal states in Ethiopia. The Majerteen clan has been involved in non-state conflicts with other groups in Ethiopia.

The Majerteen are a subclan of the Darood clan, and are in turn further subdivided into numerous subclans. It is one of the smaller groups in the SNRS, which is dominated by the Ogaden clan, which is another Darood subclan. Like other Somali clans in Ethiopia, most Majerteen are pastoralists, and adhere to Islam.

The Majerteen clan has been involved in the non-state category of UCDP organised violence.
