SUMMARY

The Tarok people are an ethnic and ethno-linguistic community residing in Nigeria. The community has been involved in non-state conflicts with other ethnic communities in Nigeria.

The main Tarok city is called Langtang, and is found in Nigeria’s Plateau State. Most Tarok people can be found in this state (Plateau), where they number approximately 400,000 individuals. The bulk of the Tarok are Christians in terms of religion. The Tarok are mainly sedentary agriculturalists (farmers), but also own significant amounts of cattle.

In conflicts with other ethnic groups the Tarok appear to not deploy a formally organised militia, but instead rely on more loosely organised groupings to carry out violence against its opponents.

The Tarok people have been involved in the non-state category of UCDP organised violence.

No recorded fatalities for this entity.
