SUMMARY
The Habaniya is a subgroup of the Baggara, a large Arab group that resides in Darfur, North and South Kordofan as well as in some areas of Chad. Baggar means cow in Arabic and the Baggara groups are mainly cattle herders. The Baggara speak the Shuwa dialect of Arabic. The Habaniya subgroup is a nomadic Bedouin group, residing in the plains of Darfur as well as in North and South Kordofan.
The Habaniya group has been involved in the UCDP non-state category of UCDP organised violence.
