SUMMARY
The NDFB-S is a splinter group of the NDFB-RD, which is, itself, a splinter group of the NDFB.
The S at the end of the groups name signifies the name of its leader, I. K. Songbijit. The group is also frequently referred to as NDFB-IKS, or NDFB-Songbijit.
On 17 April 2015 NDFB-S merged with several other armed groups from India’s northeast to form the UNLFW, fighting for the independence of what it referred to as "Western South East Asia". This territory incorporates the areas previously claimed separately by its constituent groups. With that, NDFB-S ceased to be a unique actor in UCDP data.
