SUMMARY

Al-Zayadia is a community in North Darfur that consists both of groups that are farming and others that are camel (Abbala) herding nomads. The group is identified as Arab. In contrast to several other Arab communities in North Darfur the Al-Zayadia has recognized land rights in form of a Dar (tribal homeland). When conflict broke out in Darfur in 2003 the Al-Zayadia sided with the government and was attacked by the rebels.

The Al-Zayadia has been involved in the non-state category of the UCDP organised violence.
