Berti is an ethnic group in North Darfur and is one of the biggest tribes in the state. The group is categorized as non-Arab and they are primarily farmers with some livestock production.
The king of the Berti tribe resides in Mellit which is one of the capitals of Dar Berti, the group's tribal homeland.
