Gimir is a cattle herding community in South Darfur. The group is identified as Arab. In contrast to most other Arab communities, however, the Gimir are more pro-rebel than pro-government in the civil war between Darfurian rebels and the regime in Khartoum.
The Gimir has been involved in the non-state category of the UCDP organized violence.
