SUMMARY
Mayi Mayi Simba (also known as Mayi Mayi Morgan or Mayi Mayi Lumumba) was active in the Mambasa Territory of the Orientale Province of the DR Congo (Zaire). The group was involved in the illicit exploitation of natural resources and poaching in the Okapi Fauna Reserve. The group was repeatedly accused of pillage, kidnapping, rape, including sexual slavery, and cannibalism.
Mayi Mayi Simba first became active as a one-sided actor in UCDP data in 2012, when the one-sided violence resulted in at least 25 civilian deaths. In late June of that year, the group looted and burned buildings, raped women, abducted civilians, and subsequently killed 6 people in Euplu headquarters of Mambasa territory.
