SUMMARY
The Mini Minawi faction of the SLM/A (SLM/A - MM) was the only rebel group that signed the Darfur Peace Agreement (DPA) on 5 May 2006. This agreement was very unpopular among the local population in Darfur. In an effort to force people to support this agreement the SLM/A - MM attacked civilians. These attacks resulted in many deaths as well as thousands of people fleeing from their homes. After the signing of DPA it was reported that SLM/A - MM was backed by the Government of Sudan as well as Janjaweed.
SLM/A - MM first became active as a one-sided actor in UCDP data in 2006, when the one-sided violence resulted in at least 25 civilian deaths. The threshold was reached in July that year when the group killed at least 70 civilians in the Korma region.
