SUMMARY

The Gok Dinka and Rek Dinka have traditionally been involved in small-scale conflicts. Traditionally these conflicts were due to cattle raiding but these conflicts rarely turned into large-scale violence. However, in 2010 this happened and dozens of people were killed. The Gok Dinka - Rek Dinka fighting was part of the widespread violence between different ethnic groups in South Sudan that took place in 2009 and 2010.

The non-state conflict between Gok Dinka and Rek Dinka was first included in UCDP data in 2010. In February that year fighting around Bahr Gel village resulted in at least 25 battle-related deaths.
