SUMMARY
The conflict between EGC and ELN concerned drug trafficking routes in the pacific coast of Colombia.
The violence can be traced back to 2017 in the Chocó region when these groups began fighting, causing a conflict that as of late 2025 had escalated significantly. During this period of time the EGC conducted a violent expansion through territories controlled by the ELN.
Fighting between the EGC and ELN had a great impact on local populations, often subjected to targeted killings, forced displacement, and forced recruitment, particularly affecting indigenous and afro-Colombian communities.
The non-state conflict between EGC and ELN was first included in UCDP data in 2019.
