SUMMARY
Camp Liberty, located near Baghdad, was attacked by Jaysh al-Mukhtar on 29 October 2015. The attack was directed against the exiled Iranian opposition group known as MEK whose members were relocated to the camp in 2012. The group had previously been residing in Camp Ashraf since 2003.
The non-state conflict between Jaysh al-Mukhtar and MEK is first included in UCDP data in 2015. In October that year, the attack by Jaysh al-Mukhtar on Camp Liberty, in Iraq, resulted in more than 25 battle-related deaths.
