SUMMARY
The Islamic Front and Jabhat Fateh al-Sham had a long history of cooperation. One of the largest groups making up the Islamic Front alliance, Ahrar al-Sham(/#/actor/5575), was long Jabhat Fateh al-Sham primary ally in Syria, and this continued while Ahrar al-Sham operated as part of Islamic Front (22 November 2013 - 1 March 2015).
As such, these groups are active together in multiple constellations with other groups, for instance IS - Islamic Front, Jabhat Fateh al-Sham, Liwa al-Jihad fi Sabeel Allah, Liwa Thuwar ar-Raqqa and Authenticity and Development Front, Islamic Front, Jabhat Fateh al-Sham - IS. In areas where they are known to operate without other actors, or where no other actors are known, this dyad has been used. These areas prominently featured western Deir ez Zor January-May 2014, in Homs desert around Shair, and in Hasakah, particularly around Markadah town.
