SUMMARY

Okaida and Estados Unidos were two rival drug trafficking gangs created mid-2000s, at the Desembargador Flósculo da Nóbrega Jail, in Paraíba state. Okaida was the first to be formed, initially entering an alliance with PCC. After this alliance ended, Estados Unidos became the primary ally of PCC in the state. The rivalry between the two gangs stemmed from their struggle for control over local drug trafficking networks, which favored themselves and their allied gangs, such as PCC and Comando Vermelho.

Even though Okaida was bigger in terms of members and territorial coverage, both gangs used the same tactics for recruiting people. One of these was offering drugs as payment for certain tasks such as committing executions, robberies and kidnapping. The non-state conflict between Okaida and Estados Unidos was first included in UCDP data in 2022.
