Comment on date of first stated goal of incompatibility: In 1970 the FPL is established to launch an armed struggle against the government. The members of FPL were to a high degree previous members of the banned communist party (PCS).

Comment on date of first use of armed force: In 1974 political assassinations by the FPL are starting to reach higher in the ranks of the government. In April 1974 the secretary of the presidency is killed by the Farabundo Martà Brigade of FPL. In 1977 the Foreign Minister is kidnapped and later assassinated

Comment on date when dyad reached 25 battle related deaths: On 23 May 1979 FPL claimed responsibility for the murder of the Minister of Education. On 6 September the FPL claimed responsibility for the murder of the Presidents brother, clashes after the murder led to the death of 14 people on 8-9 September. After a demonstration on 14 September 10 people were killed in clashes between FPL the police and National Guards.

Comment on Termination: The group was indirectly terminated in May 1980 when it joined with ERP, FARN, and PCS in creating the united rebel organization DRU. In October PRTC joined the groups in DRU and the organization adopted a new name, FMLN, after Farabundo MartÃ, the leader of the 1930s revolt of the coffee plantation workers.
