Comment on date of first stated goal of incompatibility: On 2 December 1988 Mosanat issued a communiqe that called for an armed struggle to unseat the President Hissene Habre. The communiqe called for all Chadian organisations to take an active part in establishing a just state in Chad. According to the spokesman of Mosanat the movement was formed in 1986.

Comment on date of first use of armed force: Mosanat clashed with the government in the eastern Chad region Gaz-Beida in December 1988.
First Battle Related Death: 1988-12-01
Comment on First Battle Related Death: Mosanat claimed they had killed 17 government soldiers while loosing 3 own men in clashes with the government in Gaz-Beida in December. The government claimed they had killed two Mosanat leaders but the rebel group denied the claim.
Date when dyad reached 25 battle releated deaths: 1989-03-03
Comment on date when dyad reached 25 battle related deaths: Probably during 28 February - 3 March 1989. On 7 March 1989 the Mosanat claimed that it had won two victories, during the mentioned dates against government troops. During the clashes 43 soldiers and seven rebels were reported to have died. However, one must be wary of this date, since there was never any confirmation of the event from the government.

Conflict Goal Issues: The Mouvement pour le salut national du Tchad, Movement for the National Salvation of Chad (MOSANAT) was a rebel group that emerged in 1986 from the Guéra region. MOSANAT claimed to represent the Hadjerai ethnic group and expressed one conflict goal issues during the year of its emergence. The group called for the civil rights of the Chadian people to be respected, stating that: “the people feel betrayed, robbed of the rights for which they are heroically beaten, robbed of their wealth and flouted in their dignity.”
During the second coded year of existence, 1988, MOSANAT called for all Chadian organizations to take part in the establishment of a “just state in Chad” through ousting of Chadian President Hissene Habre. As no conflict goal issue was stated in both coded years, no main issue was attributed to MOSANAT.
Conflict Dynamics Issues: During the year of its emergence, MOSANAT released a statement alleging the government of Chad of collectively targeting innocent civilians in Guéra through systematic denial of resources and riches based on their ethnicity and birthplace. No conflict dynamics issues were interpreted after 1986.

Comment on Termination: During 1989 there was minor armed conflict in Chad involving, among others, the government and the Movement for the National Salvation of Chad (Mosanat). Since it has not been possible to find any information on clashes between Mosanat fighters and government troops in 1990, 31 December 1989 has been coded as the date of conflict termination. However, in March 1990 the Mosanat, together with the Revolutionary Forces of 1 April, created the Patriotic Salvation Movement (MPS), which ousted the sitting government in December of that year.
