Comment on Activity: In terms of casualties, MPIGO’s worst attack on civilians in 2003 was their 22 March assault on the small village of Dah in the westernmost part of the country. In the night-time attack the rebels killed at least 40 civilians, some by bullets and some by burning them to death in their homes. Just a few weeks earlier LIMA, a government backed militia, had carried out a large-scale massacre in the town Bangolo and the killings in Dah was clearly a reprisal action.
