Comment on date when dyad reached 25 battle related deaths: The non-state conflict between the Guéré and the Senufo is first included in UCDP data in 2005. In May of that year, the killing of four Senufo group members turned ethnic tension into open conflict. In the days following the event, the two groups engaged in reprisal attacks which lasted for a period of ten days. On the third day of fighting, the threshold of 25 battle-related deaths was reached.

Comment on Yearly Battle Related Deaths: The high discrepancy between the best and high estimates comes from the fact that in some cases it is not sure whether the acts were committed by the Senufo or the Guéré since the area is inhabited by several different ethnic groups with a history of violence.
Comment on Active: In the end of May, after years of ethnic tensions between the Senufo and the Guéré, the killing of four Senufo members led to open conflict between the two ethnic groups. The event triggered a series of reprisal attacks which lasted for several days and resulted in the death of 65 people.
