Comment on Yearly Battle Related Deaths: The differences in the fatalities estimate results from differing fatalities reports, mainly for one incident in December for which sources report fatality estimates between 22 and 48.
Comment on Active: Violence between the two groups began in late March and went on until early May. During that period, Forces of Omar Jess attacked small villages around Kismayo as well as Kismayo itself, but General Morgan succeeded in keeping control of the city. Sporadic violence erupted again in October, November and December, partly as a reaction the General Morgan’s declaration of independence of Jubaland.
