Comment on date when dyad reached 25 battle related deaths: The non-state conflict between the Pari and the Toposa clan is first included in UCDP data in 1990. During the latter part of the year, a clash between a group of Toposa militiamen trespassing on Pari lands and Pari tribal defense groups resulted in over 25 battle-related deaths.

Comment on Active: Violence ignited at the end of 1990, when a group of sixty Toposa militiamen passing through Lapon demanded food from the Pari on their way from Juba (where they were presumably trained by the Government of Sudan) back to Toposaland. This action made the Pari angry, and the local traditional defense force (referred to as the mojomiji) opened fire on the Toposa, killing 35.
