1993 Dyad Archive
Comment on Active: In January 1993 clashes erupted between the rival Maheran sub-clan of Sede (Darod) and Habr Gedir (Hawiye). The clashes took place in an area where Canadian troops were present. The groups used armoured vehicles and mortars but the violence abated after the Canadians sent a number of armed vehicles to prevent further attacks.

1995 Dyad Archive
Comment on Active: In 1995 there were tensions between Habr Gedir (Hawiye) populated villages that supported Mohamed Farah Aideed’s USC/SNA and villages populated by members of Marehan sub-clan of Sede (Darod), which supported SNF in Galguduug region in central Somalia. A number of raids against villages that “supported the wrong faction” led to clashes where a number of people were killed.
