Comment on Active: In June 1990 clashes started between supporters of Abu Nidal’s Fatah Revolutionary Council and Yasser Arafat’s Fatah. Claims have been made that the attack was made as a signal of Arafat to the USA that he opposed terrorism but it should be noted that the terrorist organisation the Revolutionary Council had been making enemies around the world for more than a decade. In the following months clashes took place as Fatah members took control of Palestinian refugee camps that had earlier been controlled by Fatah Revolutionary Council. By mid-September PLO chairman Yasser Arafat declared victory against Abu Nidal and his supporters.
