At the beginning of February of that year, Pokot warriors raided the Matheniko Karimojong and in the ensuing fighting resulted in 36 people battle-related deaths.

Comment on Activity: In the beginning of February, warriors from the Pokot tribe attacked Matheniko grazing lands in the Nakapiripirit region of the Moroto district. The Matheniko cattle herders were moving south to find water when the Pokot raided the livestock. The conflict, which only lasted for a day, resulted in 36 battle-related deaths.
