2000 Conflict Archive
Comment on Activity: The violence between the Garre subclan and the Jiddo subclan began in May, continued during the whole summer and ended in late October. The conflict mostly took the form of cattle raids, but sporadically, intentional killings were also reported.
Comment on Yearly Battle Related Deaths: The differences in the fatality estimates result from partially unclear sources, and differences in the number of fatalities reported. In addition, for one event in October, the involvement of the Garre is only assumed but not confirmed, which is why the 12 fatalities incurred are added to the “high” estimate only.
