Comment on Activity: Fighting between the Forces of Shah Sahib and the Omar Khalid group of TTP (Tehrik-i-Taliban Pakistan) intensified in July 2008, as Shah Sahib attempted to take over a Taliban-controlled madrasah. This was shortly followed, on 18 and 19 July 2008, by a Taliban assault on Shah Sahibs camp. This attack led to the destruction of the camp, the capture (and then the execution) of Shan Sahib and the overall destruction of the Forces of Shah Sahib as an organization.
After three days of clashes, Taleban senior leaders managed to negotiate a ceasefire, and one week later a peace agreement was signed. Prominent Taleban leaders issued a strict warning that no stand-alone activities were tolerated and that the different groups should act as a united movement.
Comment on Yearly Battle Related Deaths: It is unclear whether reports published during the second day of fighting (19 July 2008) include deaths that occurred during the first day.
