Comment on Activity: In 2006 a non-state conflict between the Darsalim and the Kibede took place in eastern Chad. The Darsalim is an ethnic group with an Arab identity while the Kibede has a more African identity. This conflict started with a clash in which six persons were killed. It is not known who started this conflict but afterwards the Darsalim gathered support from other persons and attacked a village inhabited by Kibede. In this attack more than 100 Kibede were killed. In comparison the Darsalim had five casualities. During the attack the village was burned.
Comment on Yearly Battle Related Deaths: The low and best estimate is the figure given by humanitarian workers operating in the area. The high estimate is taken from local, more unspecific sources, stating that up to 300 were killed in these clashes.
