Comment on Activity: In 2007 the Murle commited cattle-raids in Bor Dinka areas. These raids resulted in several retaliatory attacks by the Bor Dinka and extensive fighting between the two ethnic communities. One additional factor to take into account is the disarmament process stipulated in the Comprehensive Peace Agreement (CPA) between the government of Sudan and the SPLM/A. This process was to involve the disarmament of all armed groups in South Sudan, but thus far it has been more successful in disarming the Bor Dinka than the Murle, leaving the former more vulnerable to attacks by the latter.

2011 Conflict Archive
Comment on Activity: In 2011 the non-state conflict between the Bor Dinka and Murle was active due to fighting taking place in October and December. Members of the Murle ethnic group attacked villages inhabited by Dinka with the purpose of rustling cows. The Murle were well-armed and the under equipped police could not hinder the attack to take place which killed about 44 people.

Comment on Activity: In 2012 the Bor Dinka – Murle dyad was active with more than 100 people killed. Most of the fighting took place in the first three months of the year and was a continuation to heinous violence taking place in the end of 2011. However, some incidents also took place later during the year.
