Comment on Activity: On 12 January 2003 Pian Karimojong warriors raided unarmed Bokora Karimojong pastoralists in Bokora county grazing lands. The attack was a desperate attempt to make up for the cattle raided by the neighboring Pokot ethnic group a few weeks earlier. Representatives of Bokora County claimed that the attack was carried out by local defense units with governmental weapons. The clash lasted for a day and resulted in the death of 30 teenage pastoralists from the Bokora tribe.

Comment on Activity: In 2005, the Karamoja region was hit by food shortage after a poor harvest. As a result, tribes of the Karimojong cluster had to increase the amount of cattle heads to ensure survival. This led to the formation of a tribal alliance between the Bokora, the Jie and the Matheniko as well as a dramatic increase in the number of raids.
After a failed attempt to retrieve lost cattle from the Bokora Karimojong, warriors of the Pian Karimojong surrounded a village in Bokora County and opened fire. The conflict between the two tribes lasted for a day and resulted in 13 deaths. This was the second incident between the Pian Karimojong and the Bokora Karimojong after a raid in July where 19 people lost their lives.
