Comment on date of first use of armed force: On 3 September 2012, the group's leader Aloys Nzabampema claimed responsibility for an attack on a military base that took place on 2 September in the outskirts of Burundi's capital, Bujumbura.

Comment on First Battle Related Death: In October the Burundian army conducted joint operations against FNL-Ubugabo-Burihabwa with the Congolese armed forces in Uvira territory. The deputy of the group “Colonel” Negamiye, was killed during such operations Near Magunda on the Uvira plateaux.

Comment on date when dyad reached 25 battle related deaths: DR Congo has been seen as a Secondary Warring Party to Burundi after Burundi, DR Congo, Rwanda and Uganda concluded a joint agreement by the heads of regional forces and Africom to target rebels and terrorist designated groups in the eastern DR Congo in September 2019. Hence clashes in the Sud Kivu Province between the government of DR Congo and FNL-Ubugabo-Burihabwa became part of this dyad. In October 2020 Congolese soldiers launched an offensive against FNL-Ubugabo-Burihabwa in which the group was dislodged from their headquarters.

Comment on Active: 2020 was the first year in which this dyad reched the level of activity. Clashes with FNL-Ubugabo-Burihabwa intensified in the DR Congo's Sud Kivu province and the government of DR Congo was for the first year considered a secondary warring party to the Burundi Government in its conflict against FNL-Ubugabo-Burihabwa.

Comment on Active: On 15 August, a Burundian contingent was deployed in DR Congo under EAC auspices. After their deployment Burundi and DR Congo conducted joint operations against FNL-Ubugabo-Burihabwa led by Aloys Nzabampema. in November the two forces managed to dislodge them from the four hills overlooking the locality of Nabombi, once the command post and logistics base of the group.
