Conflict Dynamics Issues: The Purba Banglar Communist Party - Janajudhha faction (PBCP-J) was a Maoist rebel group fighting against the government of Bangladesh. The group emerged as a splinter group from the Purba Banglar Communist Party (PBCP) which itself originated as a splinter group from the Bangladesh Communist Party. Whilst characterized by Maoist political ideology, the group was fairly incommunicative, which is why only two conflict issues have been interpreted for the group. In 2005, PCBP-J stated two conflict dynamics issues, accusing the government of atrocities through crossfire killings, stating that the government “have long been killing its men [PBCP-J members] cold-bloodedly and falsely ascribing the deaths to ‘crossfire’, ‘encounter’, ‘line of fire’ or ‘shootout’”. The group also called for revenge to be taken for these killings.
