Comment on Active: In January 2012 Khatumo administration announced its formation. The area over which the administration claims control is located to the north of Somalia and the regions of Sool, Sanaag and Togdheer (by some referred to as Cayn). This area lies between, and to some degree overlaps, areas that have been claimed by both the administrations in the autonomous Somaliland and Puntland regions. Shortly after the announcement of the formation of Khatumo administration clashes broke out between local militias and those of Somaliland. Clashes were mainly, though not exclusively, taking place in the early months of 2012 and in and around Buhoodle town on the border with Ethiopia.
