The Nuer is the second largest ethnic group in Southern Sudan (the largest is Dinka) and the Nuer is divided into different sections. One of these sections is the Jikany. The Jikany Nuer main livelihood is cattle herding.
The Jikany Nuer has been involved in the non-state category of the UCDP organised violence.
