SUMMARY

The Iyeke are an Indigenous community residing in the Bianga district of Monkoto territory, Tshuapa province, in the DR Congo (Zaire). They are part of the larger Batwa group and have traditionally lived in close connection with the rainforest, relying on its resources for their semi-nomadic lifestyle. Historically, the Iyeke faced systemic discrimination and marginalization, often being treated as second-class citizens by neighboring ethnic groups, particularly the Nkundo.
