SUMMARY

Grand Ravine was a gang based in the Grand Ravine neighborhood, located in the Martissant area of Port-au-Prince, Haiti. This area was known for its strategic importance and was a hotspot for gang activity.

The gang had a substantial membership, estimated to be around 300 young members who came from poor neighborhoods located in both metropolitan and provincial areas. Some of them were known to be previous members of vigilance brigades and organizations close to Fanmi Lavalas.

Grand Ravine operated with a hierarchical structure that included a central leadership core and various lieutenants in charge of different sectors or activities within their territory. This structure allowed for organized and coordinated operations across the areas the gang controlled, for example, kidnapping, vehicle theft, rape, hijacking of trucks and goods, and murder.

The gang was heavily armed and engaged in a range of violent activities to maintain control over the territory and expand its influence. Grand Ravine was known for its involvement in brutal clashes with rival gangs and confrontations with law enforcement with a heavy use of powerful firearms.

The leadership of Grand Ravine was associated with several key figures over the years, including alias Bougoy, alias Killik, and Renel Destina alias Ti Lapli.

Grand Ravine formed alliances with other gangs within the Martissant area and beyond. It was a well-known ally of the G-Pep gang coalition, participating in several clashes with G9 member gangs.

The gang Grand Ravine has been involved in the one-sided category of UCDP organized violence.
