Beni Hussein is an ethnic group inhabiting North Darfur. The group is categorized as Arab and primarily herds cattle. In contrast to several other Arab communities inhabiting North Darfur the Beni Hussein has recognized land rights in form of a Dar (tribal homeland). This is an important reason for why this community has remained fairly neutral during the Darfur conflict.
