SUMMARY

The Sayawa people, also known as Saya, are an ethnic group of about a hundred thousand people mainly based in Bogoro and Tafawa Balewa LGAs, Bauchi State in Nigeria. Their language is known as Saya. The Sayawa people have traditionally been agriculturalists and include adherents to traditional religions as well as Christiantiy.

In conflicts with other groups, the Sayawa have not displayed a unified command. However, the group has been organised politically in a long-standing campaign for the establishment of a Sayawa Chiefdom in Tafawa Balewa.

The Sayawa have been involved in the non-state category of UCDP organised violence.

No recorded fatalities for this entity.
