Major data releases

UCDP has released six new versions of its annually updated datasets: UCDP/PRIO Armed Conflict Dataset v.21.1, UCDP Dyadic Dataset v.21.1, UCDP Battle-related Deaths Dataset v.21.1, UCDP Georeferenced Events Dataset v.21.1 (UCDP GED 21.1), UCDP Non-State Conflict Dataset v.21.1 and UCDP One-sided Violence Dataset v.21.1.

Global Candidate Events Data are available on a monthly basis at ucdp.uu.se/downloads The latest version covers April 2021.

All datasets and codebooks can be downloaded from ucdp.uu.se/downloads

Encyclopedia update

The UCDP encyclopedia has been updated with information for 2020, including conflict narratives and actor descriptions.

Researching Peace Podcast

This year, the Department of Peace and Conflict is celebrating its 50th anniversary as a department! To acknowledge this, we are broadcasting our own podcast: Researching Peace.

The latest episode features UCDP director Magnus Öberg and Project Manager Therese Pettersson.

Publications

In their article “Organized violence 1989-2020, with a special emphasis on Syria” in the July issue of Journal of Peace Research, Therese Pettersson, Shawn Davies, Amber Deniz, Garoun Engström, Nanar Hawach, Stina Högbladh, Margareta Sollenberg & Magnus Öberg present updated data on all three categories of organized violence (state-based conflict, non-state conflict and one-sided violence) as well as explore how Syria has dominated the trends in organized violence in the past decade.
